Your Data Rights

This document explains your rights under GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), and other privacy regulations, and how to exercise them.
Right to Data Export (Portability)
You have the right to download a copy of all your personal data.
How to Export
- Go to Account → Data & Privacy
- Click "Download My Data"
- We'll generate a ZIP file containing your data
- Download will start automatically
What's Included

What's NOT Included
- Expired files – Audio and transcripts are automatically deleted based on your plan's retention period (Trial: 3 days, Professional: 7 days, Professional Plus: 30 days)
- Temporary processing data – Not retained
Response Time
- Exports are generated within 24 hours (usually much faster)
- GDPR requires within 30 days; CCPA requires within 45 days
- We exceed both requirements
Right to Deletion (Right to be Forgotten)
You have the right to request deletion of your account and all associated data.
How to Delete Your Account
Option 1: In-App (Recommended)
- Go to Account → Data & Privacy
- Click "Delete My Account"
- Confirm the deletion request
Option 2: Contact Form
Submit a request via our contact form with:
- Subject: "Account Deletion Request"
- Include the email address associated with your account
- We will verify your identity and process the request within the required time
What Happens When You Delete

What Gets Deleted
- User profile and account information
- All transcription jobs and files
- Settings and preferences
- Usage history
Note: Subscription and payment data is managed by Stripe per their retention policies.
What's Retained (Anonymized)
For legal compliance and audit purposes (GDPR Article 17(3)), we retain anonymized records of:
- Data export requests (to prove we fulfilled portability rights)
- Audit logs needed for security and compliance
These records contain no personally identifiable information after anonymization.
Response Time
- Within 24 hours – Processed daily (for in app requests)
- GDPR requires within 30 days; CCPA requires within 45 days
- We exceed both requirements
